Battle of Thiessen (1813)
23/10/18 : Night 3 - Just 2 turns to come to the conclusion that the Prussians had well and truly been battered, a French victory was declared.
16/10/18 : Night 2 - A great evening. The Prussians came on pushing at both villages with cavalry supporting the centre, however it wasn't to be as the French pumped out some outstanding volley's and canister to crush both attacks. The cavalry in the centre opted to withdraw, leaving the late, slow moving Prussian Landwher a little isolated. The one charge that actually got onto one of the villages failed to break in. BUT, just maybe the one bit of Prussian success was on their left which could just throw a curved ball when added to the rallying of the right flank Prussian cavalry.
Still a bit to play for next week, but at the moment the bookies are making the French odds on favourites.
09/10/18 Night 1 : Initial set up of the engagement which sees a superior sized Prussian force commanded by Bulow attacking a well prepared French rear guard from Bertrand's 4th Corps. The Prussians need to take control of the central road which requires the successful capture of 2 villages.
3 turns played, the Prussians have come on fast but sacrificed formation and now find themselves under some intense French fire. The Prussian right was initially helped when the sole French battery went low ammo on turn 1 but it has since started to pepper the marching columns with canister. A glorious Prussian cavalry charge, again on the right, missed out breaking straight through the lines by a single dice pip (I was counting my chickens on that one !). On the Prussian left, again the Prussians have come on quickly but look to be in good order for the coming assaults. Of note both the Prussian and French guns have blown chucks out of each other on the left, so it's going to be interesting.
