Lock Down Desert : Breakthrough for fuel
27th of May 2020
Two sessions played to end the game -
It was looking reasonable for the Germans holding the town and fuel dump but despite heavy fire, heavy pinning the allies pushed on and suddenly both German pieces of Armour were immobilized. They chucked everything back, including assaulting British armor hand to hand which nearly paid of but just couldn't stop the pressure.
The final phase of the game saw the french on the left rally and clear the left and the village itself was then under immense fire that was rounded of with a bang on hit from the french mortar.
Just one German section undamaged and no choice but to withdraw, a great game that showed how a smaller defending force with an element of cover had a great fighting chance of winning.

Covid lockdown game number 2 continues - A double update of nights play.
The British Armour struggled to break out of the gorge with accurate fire from the German left causing pins, plus the Pziii moved into play. However the French guns deployed on the ridge and finally managed to suppress the fire which has allowed the column to advance supported by some accurate smoke cover again from the French guns.
On the allied left the French column moved through the gorge in safety and started to apply pressure to small formation around the oasis but it all went wrong as the combined fire of the Pzii started to apply pins along with the HMG which could just do enough damage but the big one was a Fubar by the French R35 which then shot up (destroying) one of the Panards ; then the Germans called in the Artillery strike which came in on the money applying vast pins and dropped a full Monty on 1 of the troop carrying trucks.
It know looks bleak for the Allies, but if they can get infantry into play ???

Moving to the desert and ww2 to my second lock down game. A random set up using all the new themed terrain (Thanks in no small part to Two Sheds Fred) to see how it all fits together.
Forces are all I have for theater, so a veteran German falschenjager platoon trying to prevent a larger Free french force with British Armour support breaking through the into the valley and pinching their petrol stash.
It all started with a pre bombardment from the French/British which was pretty effective with most German units getting at least 1 pin - this would give the British Armour chance to get through the gorge, or should have, without to much risk of damage.
Turn 1 saw 4 units get an action and then the Joker came out, Turn 2 saw 5 units get a turn before the Joker. This enabled the front line Germans to rally of their pins including the Panserbush which took a few long range pot shots at the British Armour which hit but didn't damage beyond the pins.
Turn 3 saw nearly a full deck of units moving, and the German rallies started to go wrong : At the end of the evening the allies have got advance units deployed, but the gorge could still cause problems, and the Germans are steadily preparing themselves.
